Over 800 to attend the eGovernment Forum and IT Expo in May

As many as 800 delegates from across the world are expected to attend the opening ceremony of the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum and IT Expo 2011. The event will be held for the fourth time in a row from 16th to 18th May 2011 under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT).

The IT Expo 2011 takes place concurrently with the Forum form 17th to 18th next May. The event is jointly organized by the eGovernment Authority, the Bahrain Society of Engineers, PMI Project Management Institute Bahrain Chapter, and the Bahrain Internet Society

“The official launch of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2011 will take place in Isa Cultural Centre on 16th, May, 2011 whereas other activities such as workshops seminars and IT Expo will carry on at the Gulf Hotel Convention Center;1 from 17th to 18th May 2011,” the Chief Executive of the eGovernment Authority Mohammad Ali Al Qaed said.

Moreover, during the official opening of the Forum the winners of the Arab eContent Award, Bahrain eContent Award and eGovernment Excellence Award for the year 2011 will be announced and awarded. The awards will be handed by His Highness Deputy Prime Minister.

“Bahrain International eGovernment Forum is an annual event that brings together a cluster of senior executives in both private and government sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and specialized speakers from all spheres from the United Nations and other international organizations,” he added.

The event is expected to draw a great number of participants of more than 800 delegates from the Kingdom of Bahrain and abroad who will specifically join the exclusive opening ceremony.
The next two-day sessions of the Forum will witness the participation of around 400 participants from the Kingdom of Bahrain and other participating countries, it is anticipated that more than 50 entities will participate in the accompanying IT Expo which will hold the latest technologies, solutions and equipments and winning awards.


“The Bahrain International eGovernment Forum & IT Expo 2011 is here once again for the fourth time successively with a new concept which intends to enhance the public’s awareness with Bahrain’s eGovernment program regionally and globally, and creates networking channels between those involved in the eGovernment industry all over the world. He pointed out that insights will be drawn from successful experiences implemented in eGovernment programs and new global technology solutions and their applications will be discussed in order to attain excellence level in implementing eGovernment programs,” he said.

Al Qaed confirmed that this year’s Forum will be rich in content with recognized speakers, selected from a mixture of government and private entities to share and highlight their experience and knowledge.

The Forum will focus key issues including social media, transforming service delivery and citizen engagement through Government 2.0, open Government initiatives, trends and technologies shaping the future of eGovernments, Green eGovernment, Millennium Development Goals, mobile and other delivery channels in eGovernment, measuring the success and value of eGovernment services and eGovernance best practices.
