Electronic ID-cards that will be implemented in Latvia in 2012 may promote electronic signature, Dienas Bizness writes on Monday.
The business development director of the company Exigen Services Latvia Peteris Sliede supposes that Latvia should take the experience of other countries in electronic ID-cards implementation.
For example, Finland implemented electronic ID-cards on voluntary base and the number of cards and e-signature users was very low. By Sliede's words, Estonian experience in eID-cards implementation is a successful one when the country introduced the novelty gradually but the cards are obligatory for all residents. The state duty for electronic ID-cards will be about 10-12 Lats that is lower than a passport state duty.
