The Philippine Information Agency (PIA), in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) launched an official Facebook page for overseas Filipino workers (OFW)- the “PIA OFW Watch”.

According to PIA Director General Atty. Jose A. Fabia, the PIA OFW Watch can be an effective forum, communication tool, and feedback mechanism for all OFW concerns and issues.

Fabia said that he also sees the new account as a way to help government immediately respond to the needs of OFWs via social media.

The new page is a natural outgrowth of the information agency’s efforts to join the President’s call to prioritize expatriate Filipino workers, especially those affected in troubled areas in the Middle Eastern region.

Users must sign up as fans of the PIA OFW Watch’s Facebook page to read daily news updates at the same time share posts with family and friends by liking and commenting on the individual updates.

The page will be monitored and managed 24/7 by trained PIA staff to respond to the scores of questions it receives about workers’ issues and announce other social services
